Ask the AI to plan a document
Instead of picking blocks by hand, describe the document and let the AI propose the plan. It chooses from your library's blocks using their descriptions and use when notes, never a block's text, and every choice is shown with its reason for you to keep or change.
Before you start
You need at least one document type you may use, and a workspace whose drafting model is set up (your admin's job; the page tells you if the AI isn't available).
Steps
- On the Drafting page, choose New draft, then Ask the AI.
- Document type (optional): pick one, or leave it on Let the AI choose from your document types and the AI picks the type your brief calls for and says why.
- Write the brief: who the document is for, what it must do, anything unusual. A title is optional.
- Choose Ask the AI. The page shows what it is doing while the brief is with the AI; the plan opens when it answers.
What you'll see
- The Brief card on the Plan tab shows your brief, which model planned it and when, and, if the type was left to the AI, why it chose the one it did.
- The plan's blocks carry the AI's reason for each pick. The library's rules have already closed the plan, so a required block is in and a conflict is flagged, exactly as for a hand-built draft.
- Blocks the AI set aside are listed on the Brief card with its reason and are never ticked. Use instead swaps one for the block it chose from the same group; Add to the plan ticks it as your own pick.
- Nothing in the catalogue covers lists parts of your brief the library has no block for: a gap to raise with a document author. The card also lists the questions the AI would ask you.
- A warning notes anything the AI named that isn't in the catalogue, or a value it read that didn't fit its field. Both are left out, never guessed.
Every pick can be unticked, and the plan is yours from then on.
From your brief
On the Form tab, From your brief lists the values the AI read from your brief, a name, a date, an amount, each with the words it quoted or a note that it wasn't quoted. It can also answer a question that decides whether a clause is included, such as how many children are under 18, so the clause arrives when you accept it. Check the unquoted ones. Accept puts a value in the form, where it saves like any answer and can be changed; Accept all quoted takes every quoted value at once.
Re-select
Re-select on the Brief card asks the AI again with a changed brief. Its new picks replace the plan; blocks you ticked yourself are dropped unless it picks them too. Your answers are kept.
Ask about this plan
Below the plan, the draft's owner can ask the AI reviewer: have I missed anything?, does this fit a tenant who is a company?, what would change if there were minor children? It sees the plan, the brief and the facts entered so far, never a block's text, and answers in a few sentences with suggestions: add a block, remove one, or swap one for an alternative, each with a reason.
Every suggestion is a button. Nothing changes until you click it, the rules still have the last word (a mandatory block can't be removed), and an applied suggestion keeps its stamp. The reviewer remembers the last few turns; once the document is reviewed, the plan is settled and the reviewer stays quiet.
When the AI isn't available
If the workspace has no drafting model, the model is busy, or the workspace's usage allowance is used up, the page says so. Build it myself is always there, and you can ask again later.
Limits and notes
- Each planning call, re-select and reviewer question counts against your workspace's daily usage allowance, like a chat message.
- A very large library is narrowed before the AI reads it: the blocks most relevant to your brief go in, together with every block the type always includes and every alternative of a chosen block, and the Brief card says how many of the type's blocks the AI saw. Only when the blocks a type always includes are themselves more than the AI can read does the page say so; a document author can then trim descriptions or split the type.
- The AI never writes your document's text and never sees a block's text. It proposes; you decide.
