Feature tour (example)
A practice document whose numbered clauses each show one feature of the drafting library — every kind of question, formatting, conditions, repeats, a table, sub-paragraphs, cross-references, a schedule and the plan's rules. An example for learning, not for real-world use.
An example for learning the drafting library — not suitable for real-world use. Each clause is there to show a feature, not to say anything a real document would. Every page of every export says Example document — not suitable for real-world use, and each document carries a draft banner until someone marks it reviewed.
What's inside
- A document type, Feature tour (example): a welcome, four numbered sections — Field kinds, Conditions and repeats, Layout and references and Plan rules — and a sign-off, with an Extras schedule when extras are ticked. Clauses are numbered within each section, a numbered list inside a clause prints as sub-paragraphs (3.3.1, then (a), then (i)), the title names the client, and the footer carries the firm, the office and the page numbers.
- 20 building blocks, one for each feature, each titled after what it shows. Twelve are in every tour; the other eight show the plan's rules.
- 15 fields, one of every kind, grouped on the form as Text, Dates and numbers, Choices, People and places and Picture. Copies (2) and Delivery (email) arrive pre-filled, and a member may change them. Office and Firm are fixed: set by the workspace and read-only on the form.
Templates and selection tests aren't in the pack, so the import adds only what the document type needs. Build a template and Build the selection test describe the ones this example was designed around.
The will, the non-disclosure agreement and the commercial lease show the same features on real kinds of document.
Import it
- Download the zip and import it: Drafting → Drafting library → Document types → Import a library. How importing a library works covers each step.
- If your workspace already has Firm (the will brings it too), choose Use the existing field.
- On the Blocks tab, open each of the twenty blocks and choose Publish.
- On the Fields tab, open Logo and upload a small picture, a PNG or JPEG of up to 1 MB, as its default. Pictures don't travel in a library: without a default, the welcome prints [Logo] until a member adds a picture on the form.
- If you like, set Firm and Office to your own details on the Fields tab; they print in the sign-off and the footer.
- The document type arrives restricted to you. Widen its Who can use when others should try it.
Build one yourself
On the Drafting page choose New draft, pick Feature tour (example), then Build it myself:
- Twelve blocks are already in the plan and can't be removed: Welcome, the ten clauses from Text and long text to Cross-references, and Sign-off.
- Tick Close — formal and Close — friendly. The plan keeps one and offers the other as an alternative; Swap exchanges them.
- Tick A requirement. A defined term joins, marked as required by another block.
- Tick Delivery by email and Delivery by post. The plan is blocked, naming both; untick one to go on.
- Continue to the form. Office shows read-only; Copies and Delivery are pre-filled, and Reset to default brings a changed one back.
- Answer Urgent with yes: Urgent handling joins the plan by itself. Tick something under Extras: the Extras schedule will print.
- Leave Fee empty and assemble. Conditions prints "The fee is payable on completion.", because a comparison with a question left blank takes its other wording; Dates, numbers and money prints [Fee] where the amount goes; and the To finish card lists Fee as not answered. Fill it in and assemble again.
- Read the numbering. Sub-paragraphs prints its list as 3.3.1 to 3.3.3, then (a) and (b), then (i) and (ii), each level indented further. Cross-references cites clause 3.3, the items 3.3.1, 3.3.2(a) and 3.3.2(b)(i), and Schedule 1 when extras are ticked, all worked out when the document is assembled.
- Export as Word or PDF: the picture, the table, the alignment and the header and footer print in both.
Ask the AI
Choose New draft → Ask the AI, pick the tour and paste one of the briefs below. The twelve blocks the type always includes, and the blocks the rules add, come in either way.
A friendly note, sent by post
A friendly note for Ann Smith of 1 High Street, Bath about the meeting on 3 March 2027, sent by post. It is urgent, and she wants translation and a courier.
- Picks: Close — friendly and Delivery by post.
- Leaves out: Close — formal and Delivery by email.
- From your brief offers, each quoted from the brief: Ann Smith as the client's name, and as the client with her address; the meeting on 3 March 2027; delivery by post; yes to Urgent; and Translation and Courier under Extras. Accept them and Urgent handling joins the plan, and the Extras schedule prints.
Asking for both
Send it by email and by post.
The document type's guidance tells the AI to pick the delivery block the brief names and never both. If both reach the plan — the AI picks them, or you tick the other on the Plan tab — the plan is blocked, naming both, until one goes. However the AI chooses, the rules keep the conflict out of the document.
The AI chooses from each block's description and Use when note, and from the document type's guidance; it never sees a block's text. When it picks the wrong block, the fix is usually a sharper Use when note, or a line in the document type's guidance.
Build a template
A template fixes the blocks a document starts with, so a member goes straight to the form. Once the blocks are published, choose + New template on the library's Templates tab:
- Name: Formal tour by email.
- Document type: Feature tour (example).
- Blocks: Close — formal, A requirement and Delivery by email. The twelve blocks the type always includes are added for you, and the rules add A defined term.
Save it, then choose New draft → Use a template: the plan is fixed, and the draft opens on the form. Templates in the user guide covers the editor.
Build the selection test
A selection test checks the AI's picks for a brief. Once the blocks are published, create this one with + New selection test on the library's Selection tests tab: give it the name shown, paste the brief from the section it links to, and fill in Must pick and Must not pick.
Friendly, by post — the brief from A friendly note, sent by post:
- Must pick: Close — friendly and Delivery by post.
- Must not pick: Close — formal and Delivery by email.
Then choose Run all; it should pass. Each run is one model call on your workspace's allowance. Selection tests in the user guide explains the scores.
